Seven steps to buil up your garden

1.Start with the house
One of Morrow’s goals was an area for outdoor entertaining next to the house—but he did not want the existing architecture to dictate the design. His 1890s Victorian house, although pretty from the street, is just a “brick box” at the back. Morrow’s response was to cover it with wisteria, and, like a theatrical backdrop, the leafy curtain strikes the right note against the wrought-iron furniture and weathered stone on the patio.

2.Design for flexibility
Morrow’s constantly changing lineup of perennials could prove distracting. To counteract this he designed a layout with a strongly defined hardscape in stone and gravel and a backbone of permanent plants that provides all-year interest.
Wendy_2016.07.06 配图.jpg
3.Make the walls go away
A favorite trick Morrow came across for disguising a limited space was the “disappearing boundary.” Wooden board fences 7 feet high enclose the garden on three sides; to make them recede from view he painted them high-gloss black. CDG furniture is a metal furniture manufacturers.Clients always refuse to believe this is a good idea until they visit the garden, then they grasp how effective it is. Not seeing is believing. (RELATED: Creating a Dramatic Backdrop)

4.Be ruthless
The lawn was briskly shown the door. “I don’t find lawns practical in a small urban garden,” says Morrow. “The amount of time, energy, chemicals and machinery it takes to keep a lawn looking nice would reap far more eye candy invested in a luscious perennial bed or even in an Edward Scissorhands topiary garden.”

5.Wrong tree, wrong place
“I had to remove three large Magnolia grandiflora. It nearly killed me,” confesses Morrow. “They should have never been planted there to begin with. Southern magnolias are wonderful trees from a distance, but you don’t want to live under one. I left a fourth that was far enough from the house to work into the design.”

6.Be decorative
Having survived the painful but necessary surgery to achieve a workable layout, Morrow turned to furnishings. “The settees I chose are from Mike Reid Weeks. Iron furniture is a good choice for small gardens because visually it is light and airy,” he explains.

7.Inject variety
Seasonal pots play an important role in this garden. Morrow uses single specimen plants in smaller pots (less than 18 inches in diameter) and exuberant mixtures of annuals and summer exotics (bananas, palms, agaves and coleus) in larger ones. In the winter, evergreen shrubs take over the containers.

Trend in industrial furniture

Traditional industrial furniture is made from materials that are designed to withstand prolonged commercial use. Heavy gauge steel, solid timber and durable fabrics such as leather were used so that they could cope with the daily grind of a busy factory or workshop.

Today’s furniture market has been flooded with cheap products made of disposable materials. Mass production of flat-pack furniture that is designed to last only a few years has become common place and unfortunately is destined to be granulated or disposed of in landfill.
QQ截图20161125091758.jpg
Investing in handmade furniture means that you get a product crafted from quality materials. This is also true for industrial-style furniture. As specialists in this area we have spent years developing and refining our processes to ensure our product is of the highest quality.

You can, of course, find “handmade industrial-style furniture” on the internet at low prices. However, this usually means corners have been cut, sometimes quite literally: cheap wood, such as old scaffolding boards, and a poor finish are often tell-tale signs.CDG furniture is an industrial furniture manufacturers.

We have come across a number of examples of steel furniture that are not coated, so the original oily surface is left to make a mess, slowly rust and look unsightly. We have seen reclaimed wood in the form of old pallets and scaffolding boards that are often filled with rot and infested with bugs being sold as furniture to be used in a home. This wood could have been treated with rat poison and all types of commercial chemicals that you really wouldn’t want to eat your dinner from.

When looking around for your next piece of furniture we advise that you research where it comes from. Does the company present itself as one you can trust? Does it have an “about” page with information and contact details including address? It might seem obvious but does the company actually make the furniture? Does it have a workshop where you can visit and see the items being made? Perhaps most importantly, is the company proud to show off examples of recent work including testimonials and photos?

There has been a boom in this industrial style. It is hard to visit a high street without trendy cafes and shops full of industrial steel and wood furniture.
QQ截图20161125091813.jpg
Unlike the “throw away” mass-produced furniture or poorly made “budget” items, CDG offers something different.CDG furniture is an industrial furniture factory. Each piece we create is carefully designed and produced based on our understanding of authentic industrial furniture. We prefer to over-engineer rather than cut back on materials. Why use 1mm-thick steel when 3mm will produce a superior product? We do not use veneers or MDF, only solid wood. A piece of 40mm-thick Oak will last for generations. It can be re-sanded and oiled time and again.

When you buy well-made furniture that is built from quality materials, it is always an investment. A solid Oak dining table will last a lifetime but will also maintain a high residual value. We are producing furniture now that will be around long after we have gone. You could call it “heirloom quality”. Furniture made from hardwood and steel is always going to be a valuable combination. If built right, by skilled people, it is a sound investment. When you purchase handmade furniture from an independent company you are also buying a small piece of the training, experimenting, developing and perfecting that went into the product. For every design there are probably 20 others that never made it past a sketch or prototype. It is this dedication and creativity that ultimately allows for furniture designs to be produced.

Another point to consider when choosing where to buy your furniture is the service. When you contact CDG furniture, We can answer any questions you have and talk through options relating to your enquiry. If you have a bespoke product in mind we will be able to visualise your idea on the computer to ensure we produce the best design for your requirements.

Excellent customer service is at the centre of what we do. We want your experience with us to be positive so that not only will you return but will also recommend us. We are a family business and we want our customers to understand who we are and see what we offer.

What kind of furniture you should buy _ It’s all in the details

Furniture is an important aspect of most peoples lives. Whether you’re sat on a chair, lying on a bed or working at a desk it’s hard to go a day without the need for some sort of furniture item. We store our belongings in them, we use them for dining, we use them for pleasure and of course for various forms of work.Dining tables, sideboards, sofas, office desks, bar stools, wardrobes, drawers, coffee tables and chairs… these are just some of the many items that help us in everyday life.

In it’s very nature a piece of furniture is designed to provide a function. You define a requirement and then choose a design that will provide a suitable solution to that need. If you need to store lever arch files then you will probably choose some type of cabinet or like wise if you need something to eat from then a dining table is the best choice. This is all very obvious stuff. Now the question is what is the difference between normal furniture and designer furniture. For sure the price is generally different. But why?
bentwood chair.jpg
A great piece of furniture starts with the imagination of it’s creator. A good designer will explore ideas and develop a solution to a furniture need. A great designer will go one step further. They will turn a functional piece of furniture design into a work of art. Through a careful arrangement of shapes and lines a form can be created that goes beyond function. Think of the iconic Lounge chair designed by Eames in 1956. This is more than just a chair. Yes it is comfortable, but more importantly it is stunning. A perfect combination of materials and aesthetic appeal.

Designer furniture should be engaging, thought provoking, be pleasing on the eye and it should impress. Every detail should work in harmony, all materials carefully chosen and its function should be embedded without sacrifice of aesthetic beauty. Designer furniture should be an investment. You are buying a piece of furniture that excites you, it is more than just a functioning object. It is meant to inspire, to generate emotion and stir conversation. If a dining table can become the talking point of a dinner party or an office desk be a place that inspires you to work then it is successful. It is more than just furniture.

Take a look around CDG website and decide for yourself if our designs trigger an emotion. We approach each design with passion and believe our creations command appreciation. We aim to produce works of art built to last generations.http://www.cdgfurniture.com/what-kind-of-furniture-you-should-buy.html

The 5 Benefits of Metal Furniture

Metal furniture has recently become an interesting topic in facility planning and design.

Once considered too utilitarian in style, contract metal furniture has developed a fresh surge in popularity for a variety of reasons including durability and cleanability. While wood furniture will always remain a popular option, here are the top five reasons to consider metal furniture for your group living, healthcare or camp environments:
1.jpg
1.Believe it or not, it has great style!  Metal furniture manufacturers have worked hard to create furniture that combines both form and function. Natural colors that are reminiscent of wood and laminate drawer faces can transform a basic piece of metal furniture into something indistinguishable from wood furniture aesthetically.

2.Cleanability and pest management. There is overwhelming scientific evidence that metal furniture does not deter bed bugs any better than wood furniture, but metal furniture does allow easier clean up and tolerates pest fighting chemicals better than wood due to its less absorbent surface. Metal furniture has bends, folds and board areas that still offer pests like bed bugs a place to hide so it is by no means bed bug or pest proof but with proper inspection and maintenance metal furniture can be a useful component of a pest management plan.

3.It’s got spirit & style! While most metal furniture is designed to mimic or blend in with wood furniture, metal can also be a great statement as part of a team or school spirit color design.  Standard primary color options or custom match paints are easy to achieve on metal furniture since metal does not the variations and graining of wood. Painted metal surfaces are consistent easy to standardize in for any color scheme.
2.jpg
4.Extreme durability. Metal furniture is a work horse of the contract furniture market. Metal furniture can tolerate extreme use which makes it perfect for any group living environment – especially dormitory and transient housing applications. Metal beds and bunk beds are durable and cleanable. Metal case pieces can include underbed storage, night stands, and chests of drawers. Metal’s finishes are well-sealed so with proper care metal beds and case pieces can withstand punctures, drink rings and general heavy use. What’s more, if the finish ever gets damaged do-it-yourself patch kits can create a like-new look in very little time.

5.It’s affordable. While good-quality metal furniture might have a higher sticker price than wood equivalents, you can expect metal furniture to last 10 – 15 years or longer.  Many metal furniture collections have warranties that will cover normal use for ten years or more. Metal furniture may require a larger up-front investment but the replacement cycle is less frequent.

Metal furniture is more and more used in restaurants, cafes, hotels and other public places ,for the dining and leisure environment to create a highly durable, comfortable living space.

Scandinavia design

One of the most significant contributions of the Scandinavian countries to the European fine arts has been in the field of design. The Scandinavian countries have achieved world-wide renown by attributing a modern aesthetic to their traditional craft industries.

The strong indigenous craft tradition, which developed as early as the Viking age, was preserved and protected in the Scandinavian arts throughout the centuries. The awakening of these crafts into a conscious national aesthetic in the 19th century laid the foundations of a movement that would represent the new modern Scandinavia and achieve international acclaim  by the 20th. The idea of beautifying simple, everyday objects in modern styles and materials and producing them with low cost production has absorbed the Scandinavian design world for the past century.
23-1.jpg
Sweden
In Sweden the craft arts avoided this elitist production of arts and instead struck upon a diplomatic ideal of creating an appealing aesthetic without compromising functionality.

Finland
In Finland the work of architect-designer Alvar Aalto and his firm Artek, took advantage of the new machine-processed wood (such as laminated ply wood) to experiment with new forms. He  gained international acclaim by designing furniture as an organic component of the architecture he was designing.

Denmark
The most consistently traditional craft based industry was Danish furniture making. This was Internationally recognised in the post war years as high quality and hand made.
During the war years, while it remained virtually their only resource, Denmark led the world in its innovative wood sculpting techniques. With the importing of teak, which became popular after the Indochina war, the Danes developed a light and practical furniture that was simple, bright and user-friendly. This gained European popularity, especially in the cramped living spaces of Germany, and led to a wave of imitation Danish teak furniture.
23-2.jpg
The later half of the 20th century saw a cohesive ‘Scandinavian design’ develop based on democratic ideals and using new materials such as form-pressed wood, plastics, anodized or enamelled aluminium, pressed steel and low cost mass production. This produced an international golden phase for Scandinavian design.

In the post-war years Scandinavian art became more diverse as each country responded to modernity in different ways. All the countries shared a socially democratic recognition of social equality, industrialisation and urbanisation as factors of modern life. These developed differently  in each country, giving a special identity to the design traditions of each.

However, to the rest of Europe, these features displayed unifying qualities such as humanism, tradition, moderation, handcrafted perfectionism, modesty, quietude and purposefulness. This was reflected in the use of simple, uncomplicated, minimalism, stylisation, functionality and low cost mass production of the designs.

Bar style - Personality industrial style is heating

Industrial style combined with nostalgia trend, it popular from Europe to all over the world. In China, more and more bars in this style .Industrial style bar with unique personality, makes customer enjoy stimulating sense in comfortable and excited relaxation. Under this kind of environment, people had to stretch out the tired nerves and release the desire to be imprisoned.

Because of the poor workers in the bottom of society, they lived in the abandoned factories, used the old wood and scrap to make industrial style furniture. Copper and iron in light yellow, wood in grey black, and cold cement all is the symbol of industrial style furniture.

Just like Every man has his hobbyhorse, in China, with industrial texture of the bar and there will be support by the consumer groups.

On the domestic, the general bar of the consumer groups mostly white-collar class, their work pressure is very large, the life needs of the appropriate decompression.

The history of Windsor chairs

It is not clear when the first Windsor Chairs were made.It is known that, as early as the 16th century, wheelwrights started coping out chair spindles in the same way they made wheel spokes. The design was probably a development of West Country, Welsh and Irish 'stick-back' chairs, but the evidence on origin is not certain.
kvist_j46.jpg
It is thought that the first Windsor chair made its appearance in the county of Buckinghamshire, where the main centre of production eventually moved to High Wycombe.
The first Windsors were of the comb-back variety.

By the 18th century steam-bending was being used to produce the characteristic "bow" of the Windsor chair. The first chairs made this way were shipped to London from the market town of Windsor, Berkshire in 1724. There is speculation that the chair derives its name from the town of Windsor, which became the centre for the trade between the producers and the London dealers. Thus the name "Windsor Chair" is more about the style of chair than where it was made, with many diverse forms of Windsor chair being made worldwide.

English settlers introduced the Windsor chair to America, with the earliest known chairs being imported by Patrick Gordon who became lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania in 1726. There is speculation that the first American Windsor chair, based on the traditional British design, was made in Philadelphia in 1730.

However ,after more than 400years ,Now ,we CDG produce the Windsor chairs in ALuminium and Metal for match the outdoor market.http://www.cdgfurniture.com/The-history-of-Windsor-chairs.html
